How to play Cross-Group Indies

Most golf apps trap your action inside your own foursome. FLOG breaks the wall. Cross-Group Indies is a real, settling Indies match against a player in a different group who is sharing your session code. Pick the guy you want, agree on the style and the stakes, and play him head-to-head for actual dollars. Nobody else has this.

The basics

How Cross-Group Indies works

Two players, two different foursomes, one session code. You challenge him, you both agree on the terms, and it settles from both cards. It is a mutual handshake: real money only when both phones match.

1

Share one code across foursomes

Every group that wants in joins the same FLOG session with the shared code. That single code is what pools all the players together so they can find each other across groups.

2

Open Live → My Matches, tap your opponent

In the Live tab there's a My Matches sub-tab. It lists every other player in the session, grouped by foursome. Find the guy you want from another group and tap him.

3

Pick style + denom and send the challenge

Choose the game style (Straight 18, Auto-Press, Nassau) and set the dollar amounts. Send it. He gets a pending challenge on his phone.

4

He accepts (or counters), the match goes live

He accepts, or he counters by editing the style or denom and sending it back. The match goes live for real money only when both of you are on the exact same style and the exact same stakes. From there it settles off both cards.

Variations

The styles you can play

Cross-Group Indies uses the same style set as your in-group Indies. You pick one when you send the challenge, your opponent has to be on the same one for it to go live. Carry-the-front is available per match.

FLOG default

Nassau 18

The classic. Three bets in one: front nine, back nine, and the overall 18. The common pick for a cross-group match because it keeps the back nine alive even if the front gets away from you.

Style

Straight 18

One match, low net over 18 holes wins. Simplest version: no front/back split, just you against him for the full round.

Style

18 with Auto-Press

A straight 18 that automatically opens a new press when a player falls a set margin behind. Lets the guy who's down claw back without renegotiating mid-round.

Style

Nassau 18 with Auto-Press

The full Nassau with auto-presses layered on. Front, back, and overall, each able to spawn a press when the margin hits. The most action of the four.

What it looks like in FLOG

The My Matches sub-tab lists players by foursome. A live match shows your status thru the holes played. A match still waiting on agreement shows "Pending, needs agreement" with the mismatch flagged.

Strategy & etiquette

You're no longer stuck playing the three guys in your cart.

The whole point of Cross-Group Indies is matchups you could never get before: the buddy a group ahead, the rival a group behind, the guy whose game travels well against yours. Line up the matches you actually want, then go beat them from a hundred yards away.

Questions

Cross-Group Indies FAQ

What is Cross-Group Indies?
A real, settling individual (Indies / Nassau) match between two players who are in different foursomes but share one FLOG session code. Most apps only let you bet inside your own group. This lets you play a guy in another foursome for real money, and it settles live from both players' scores.
How do I play someone in another foursome?
Every foursome joins one session with a shared code. In the Live tab there's a My Matches sub-tab that shows every other player in the session, grouped by foursome. Tap the opponent you want, challenge him to an Indies match, and pick the style and dollar amounts. He gets a pending challenge and either accepts or counters (edits the style or denom and re-sends).
How are strokes figured between two players in different groups?
Strokes come off the low of the two players in the match: the handicap differential between just those two, allocated hole by hole by each hole's handicap index. It's the same stroke logic as an in-group Nassau, applied only to the two of you.
What styles and stakes can we play?
The same set as in-group Indies: Straight 18, 18 with Auto-Press, Nassau 18, and Nassau 18 with Auto-Press. Carry-the-front is available per match. You set the dollar amounts when you send the challenge. The match only goes live for real money when both phones agree on the same style and the same denominations. If they don't match, it shows "Pending, needs agreement" with the mismatch flagged.
When does the match settle?
It computes live from each player's synced net scores across the pooled session rounds. During the round you'll see progress like "2 up thru 7." The final dollar figure locks in when both players finalize their cards. The live "thru N" line is progress, not final money.
Can I play my own group AND someone in another group at the same time?
Yes. Cross-Group Indies stacks with everything else. You can keep your in-group Indies, 2-man, skins and so on, and run one or more cross-group matches at the same time, including multiple cross-group matches against different opponents at once. It's on by default for everyone, with no setup-wizard step, because you don't know who's in the other groups until they join the code, so the whole thing happens live with both phones present.

Pick your opponent. We'll handle the match.

Cross-Group Indies is on by default in FLOG. Share a code, open My Matches, tap the guy you want, and play him for real money from across the course.
